Learn more about Move Well.

OUR STORY.

Co-Founders of Move Well – Kim Johnson (Performance Physio) and Phil Jones (Personal Trainer) – spent their careers in central London in leading training studios. They realised there was a gap in the market outside of London for small group training, and set up their first boutique studio in St Albans in February 2021.

Following the success of Move Well St Albans, they established their next Move Well offering right in the heart of Northwood (North West London) in January 2023, bringing together small group training, 1:1 PT and other services to a new customer base.

The gym quickly grew a loyal and supportive community of members, and currently stands at just over 100 members, with classes running 7 days per week.

OUR MISSION.

We build capable, resilient humans through honest, performance-led training.

Move Well is a performance-led group training gym built on intelligent programming and expert coaching. We don’t chase trends or quick fixes. Our training has structure and purpose, designed to make you genuinely stronger, more capable and measurably fitter.

Every session builds towards something bigger, so the strength you build in here, shows up out there in the real world.

OUR TEAM.

Move Well is built around expert coaching and real-world experience. The coaches at Move Well are highly qualified, passionate about their craft and supportive, knowledgeable teachers – with expertise covering all aspects of functional fitness. Between them, our coaching team’s experience includes ATHX and Hyrox competitions, Commonwealth Games-level Olympic Weightlifting, sub-40 10k and marathon running, and triathlons.

I can help people looking to build strength, improve performance (be that a physical goal or competition) and create sustainable long-term results.

My role is not just to coach people, but to teach them. The greatest compliment I can receive is when a client feels capable of training independently because they truly understand what they’re doing and why. The goal is progression, not dependency.I’m a Performance Physio and Coach with over 25 years in the fitness industry and a lifelong passion for training, movement and performance. I’ve competed in Olympic Weightlifting, Kettlebell Sport, Hyrox, ATHX, triathlon, and 10k and half marathon events, and my work has been featured in publications including Women’s Health, Marie Claire, HuffPost and Top Santé.

As Co-founder of Move Well, a female business owner and mum to a teenager, I understand the realities of balancing ambitious goals alongside modern life.

SKILLS.jpg

With over 20 years of experience as a personal trainer and nearly 30 years immersed in training myself, competing in many disciplines along the way. I’ve worked across every corner of the fitness industry, from commercial gyms and boutique studios in London to MMA facilities and mobile coaching.

As Co-Founder of Move Well, my focus is and always will be: combine knowledge, passion, and real world experiences. My training philosophy is rooted in fundamentals: strength, movement, discipline, and consistency. Whether your goal is fat loss, your first 5k, a functional fitness competition, or simply becoming more capable and confident, I’ll help you build a clear path toward success.

Known for my energetic and supportive approach, I combine bodyweight training, weighted calisthenics, resistance training, conditioning, and functional movement to help clients of all abilities progress safely and consistently.

I’m a strength and conditioning focused personal trainer who’s passionate about helping people feel strong, capable, and confident – both inside and outside the gym. My coaching is centered around progressive strength training that delivers real results, while building confidence at every stage.

Training with me is challenging but always fun. I bring high energy, encouragement, and a positive atmosphere to every session, so workouts feel motivating rather than intimidating. Whether you’re new to training or working towards a specific goal, I’ll support you every step of the way, and help you realise just how strong you can be.

Joe Paris.jpg

I’m a coach of 15 years of experience, specialising in performance-based and endurance-focused training. Fitness isn’t just my job – it’s something I live and breathe.

I actively compete in events such as HYROX and multi-discipline fitness competitions, and I’ve trained and competed across disciplines including powerlifting, bodybuilding, and martial arts. This broad background has shaped my approach to developing well-rounded, capable athletes. I’ve competed in a range of distance races and am currently building towards *a sub 3 hour* marathon, applying the same structured, progressive approach I use with clients.

My coaching centres on building strength, engine, and resilience in a way that transfers beyond the gym. I also hold MNU nutrition certification, which supports a broader understanding of Nutrition, recovery, and long-term performance.

Growing up in a rural area, movement, nature, and sport have always been a big part of my life. I began coaching at a young age and have now spent just under 20 years in the health and fitness industry.

During that time, I’ve coached, mentored, and supported people of all backgrounds, ages, abilities, and goals, as well as working with massage and rehabilitation. This broad experience allows me to bring a well-rounded, individual approach to Move Well.

My focus is helping you improve both your fitness and your lifestyle – getting stronger, moving pain-free, and creating lasting change. Whether through classes, 1:1 personal training, or massage and rehab, my goal is to help you feel better and move well.
